Despite being incarcerated, Demons released his first project, an EP titled “Collect Call,” in late 2017. In February 2019, he was charged with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the shooting deaths of two of his close friends and fellow YNW associates, YNW Sakchaser and YNW Juvy. Authorities alleged that Melly conspired with YNW Bortlen, Cortlen Malik Henry, to stage the double-murder as a drive-by shooting. The case was further complicated by allegations linking Melly and Henry to the fatal 2017 shooting of off-duty deputy Garry Chambliss.
