Metallica Frontman James Hetfield Featured In First-Ever Acting Role In New Ted Bundy Film

According to a report from the San Francisco Gate, ever since it was revealed that Zac Efron was going to be the star of the new Ted Bundy movie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile, fans have been gloating over the way Zac looks just like Mr. Ted Bundy. However, music fans are more concerned with another character in the movie.

Dropped on Friday, the trailer for the film shows an appearence from Metallica frontman and rhythm guitar player, James Hetfield, in what marks his first-ever movie. Rolling Stone pointed out that Hetfield has been in shows before, but never actually playing a character.

Directed by Joe Berlinger, the movie features a cast including Haley Joel Osment, Kaya Scodelario, Angela Sarafyan, John Malkovich, Jim Parsons, and Lily Collins. James played the highway patrol officer, Bob Hayward, who was the first to arrest Mr. Bundy with burglary tools in his vehicle.

Reportedly, Mr. Hayward famously had an idea that something wasn’t right with Mr. Ted Bundy. His arrests preceded Bundy’s future convictions for kidnapping and assault in 1976. Bob Hayward, unfortunately, died in Utah in 2017.

Interestingly, this won’t be the first time Hetfield has worked with the director of the film, Berlinger. They worked together in the making of the 2004 documentary, Some Kind Of Monster. In a statement last February, Berlinger said Hetfield was an extraordinary person to work with.

When Berlinger asked for Hetfield to take on the role, his response, “yes,” made Berlinger “thrilled.” Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Vile, and Vile, starring Zac Efron, kicked off on Thursday.

In other Sundance Film Festival-related news, the recent Michael Jackson documentary, Leaving Neverland, reportedly stirred controversy among Jackson fans for featuring Jackson’s two main accusers in the film.

In fact, the plot if the movie revolved around Robson and Safechuck, who accused Michael of abusing them as children. However, fans haven’t been forgiving of either man. A cascade of social media users has accused both of being just out for the money left behind by Michael and his estate.

Interestingly, the Sundance Film Festival movies to take the most headline space feature abusers and their victims, except of course, in varying severity.
